Charity update

I have had many items come in for my charity.  The ladies participating are doing such a good job and I'm proud of all of them.

These are just some of the items that have come in for the first project.  I'm expecting more after Thanksgiving.  These will all go to the Ronald McDonald House at Vanderbilt.  I am so happy to see everything coming together.  All of the stitchers in the group have done such a good job.  They are wonderful ladies.

Finished!

I finished the perfume bottle.  It will be mailed off tomorrow to my friend for her birthday.  I love seeing how backstitching makes the details *pop*.  Now I have a kitchen towel to do for a swap and an eagle I'm doing for a lady at church.  And of course, there is always stitching to do for my charity.  That never ends.  ((smiles))

Battle of Grunwald cross stitch

Have you seen this yet?  I just discovered it today and I am thoroughly impressed!! The massive amount of work each stitcher put into it is amazing.  They definitely have my respect!

Current WIP

This is my (ok, one of my) Work In Progress pieces. I am stitching it for a friend.
I've finished with the actual form of the perfume bottle and have just started the backstitching.  I can't wait to get it done because I know the backstitching will really make it *pop*.
:0)
Forgive the wrinkles, it is still a WIP after all.

A few pics from the past

Just wanted to share a few pictures of some things I've worked on.  In absolutely no order at all.  :-)

This was for Love Quilts.

Pillowcases for my kids.

This is a kit in my stash.  I'm hoping to start it in 2014.

Bread cloth...

Another bread cloth...

For the Sandy Hook Memorial quilts

DMC box that I scored off of Craigslist jam packed with new floss.

Sneaky husband snapping a pic when I didn't know it, lol.

From the DMC box...

A random SAL.

From the same DMC box.

Another Sandy Hook square.

Sandy Hook...

Hand towel for the bathroom.

My ORT jar for 2013.  (ORT = Old Ratty Threads.)  It's the bits and bobs that get snipped off.  At the end of the year I'll get clear Christmas ornaments from Hobby Lobby, stuff them with the threads and label with the year.  :0)  (Also, you can see my notebook in the background that has 3 HAED patterns in it.)

And last but not least....cats and stitching.  It's like a moth to a flame!

Welcome!

I have started this blog because I want to be able to keep my stitching related blogging separate from my regular day to day blogging.  Some folks aren't as "into" the world of stitching as I am ~ so this will help them to not have to sort through the posts they'd rather not see.  This is also going to be my personal "home base" for thinking, planning, and sharing about my stitching charity ~ The Legacy of Dorcas.  (See tab above entitled "My Stitching Charity Organization.)

I will share pics of my own WIPs, completed projects, and new stash lovliness.  I'll also share the things The Legacy of Dorcas is doing and record the highs and lows of it all.
